Teaching your Pet his  new name
Your new puppy will love hearing its name when its related to something pleasurable. Have his favorite treat ready when you call your pups new name . Never call his name to punish him. He will relate his name to punishment and will become fearful or try to hide.
    Destructive  Chewing
Chewing very natural for puppies to do , they start at an early age , when they are teething. Then if not directed to chew only on their chew toys, they will find other items to chew when they are bored. Keep dangerous or valuable items off the floor and your pup in an area that is off limits from things he can destroy. Keep plenty of toys available.
Teaching your pup to walk on leash
The first time you put a leash on your puppy, he will protest  and think your trying to hurt him. If you put the leash on at home while playing with your pup on the floor, and dispense treats when you tug on it . He will think its a good thing and welcome the leash.

Older pets may seem to have lost their manners. A pet that  would always go out the doggy door when he needed to eliminate, is suddenly having accidents on the carpet every day. It's not an untrained pet. It could be a medical problem. Talk to your Vet or a Behaviorist. .

California Shelters are filled with Pets that if properly trained , they would still have a loving home. Before you adopt a pet do some home work on the breed. Ask questions about the personalities of the breed you've selected. Though he may be very cute , he may not fit your life style or display the traits you can live with. Talk to many breeders and other owners of this breed.

Many Terriers are born to dig and chew. Retrievers love to hunt and roam. Doxies and Chihuahua can become nervous and nippy. Talk to breeders about the personality traits of the breed you fancy.

LARGE BREED DOGS DON'T KNOW THEIR OWN STRENGTH. A LARGE BREED PUPPY CAN PLAY A LITTLE TOO ROUGH AND CAUSE UNINTENDED ACCIDENTS. THEIR TRAINING SHOULD START EARLY IN THEIR PUPPY-HOOD.
